Adam Smith (Opishinski)

The Industrial Revolution definitely has had a major, positive impact on the citizens of Europe. The economy has seen a new era because of all of the new technology that is spreading fast and far. Advances in farming have helped to improve growing methods, and the rate of starvation has decreased because of this. Crop growth is more efficient, helping the farmers and peasants to lose less money and have more success. he population is growing as well. Due to the growth of population, cities are becoming flooded with workers willing to work in the factories and mills. Humanity is seeing a new age, and the population, technology, and economy are growing faster than ever before. The lower classes are seeing the positive impact of the industrial revolution when they can have paying factory jobs, or their farming methods have improved. The middle class and the educated are seeing improvements as well, they can learn new technology and become successful entrepreneurs. For everyone, the Industrial Revolution is having a huge impact on their lives, and it is for the better.

  1. Your eyes are seeing but your mind is blind dear Adam. As you said the population is growing, there is no doubt about that, although the way you are making that growth out to be is of false inference. There are too many people living in the streets, they are beginning to become crowded and squished which is making many uncomfortable and unhappy. It displeases them. They are not of large wealth, even though with the new age of industrialization they are able to provide what is needed, they are not making enough to have any luxuries. The urban workers are forced to live in tenements because they are too poor to live anywhere else. With no indoor plumbing there is an increase in waste, the neighborhood streets are covered with filth. It is causing too many diseases. The population growth is not to be praised. It is a tragedy.
You are also blind when you stated that the new found population is willing to accept the jobs. This is not true. They do what is needed to make money but none of them are happy in their jobs. They feel overworked and that the jobs are dangerous. If anything the population has caused much bitterness amongst the souls of others and the streets.

  2. I believe you have forgot about all the negative that has come with the Industrial Revolution. Yes, farming technology is improving, and factories are growing, but that is also having a negative effect on Europe. With the new technology and growing amount of factories products can be produced and sold anywhere. We can no longer raise and lower prices as we please on certain products because other nations can make it and sell it for a lower amount. We have lost our comparative advantage, something that was greatly needed for our economy.
