Luckily both my parents are working, so this means food on the table each night. But even we don't know how long this will last. We have heard that Hitler is coming to his original home here in Austria. They said that a vote for Hitler is a vote for better lives, food, and money. So of course we welcomed him in with open arms. I myself dressed in my most beautiful dress. My parents dressed up as well. We went down to celebrate the newcomer with the rest of our town as he paraded through and on to the next. It was an exciting occasion.
Within the next month stories of Hitler changed from a prospering economy to a militant dictator taking our own people over. I don't know if these are rumors, but they are all so gruesome and the only thing I can do is start to believe them. Hitler is bringing death, not perfection. I don't know what my family's next plan is. I sure don't want to leave this country. I can only pray to God for a clean and quick resolution.
I find it rather difficult to sympathize with you. You have welcomed extremism, and abandoned your traditions and pre-existing government. Gullible people like you are the ones who have allowed for the disease of extremism to spread throughout Europe. If a strange man was to offer you free candy in exchange for control of your home, would you foolishly accept, as you have done with Hitler? To overcome the temptations of extremism, a country requires a strong will of their people, and unfortunately, it would appear that you country lacks such a quality.
ReplyDeleteI am not like the rest. I have seen what Hitler is doing. Maybe it is too late, but I have still seen it. There are ones in my country that are stubborn in the fact that they follow Hitler to no end, but I and my family have taken notice.

ReplyDeleteAs you have seen death and despair follow in Hitler's wake. He threatens the freedom and basic human rights with every town he overruns. People cheer as he enters their cities. We, in France, grimace at the thought. Do your people value their freedom so lowly that they would succumb to his wishes so easily? Some things in life aren't right and just for the taking. Somethings are worth fighting for. Some things are worth dying for. These things however can only be determined by you. I can't change your opinion, but for me, Freedom is up their among the most important.
